Humber Tech Week 2021

This week was Humber Tech Week, so I popped along to see what all the fuss was about in between building software for Pittaway on my internship.

I was greeted at the entrance by a familiar face, Professor John Murray who transferred from Hull to Sunderland University recently. He brought along the Boston Dynamics robot they've got to play with which was quite impressive. I even got my photo taken with it.

As I toured the stalls and listened to the speakers, I bumped into some more familiar faces - Rob Miles - who was exhibiting some hardware for seniors that he had made. Pictures below.

During our conversation, I thought there was scope for this relatively cheap smart tech to be latched onto a project like Parentull where parents may not have lots of money but there would be a social benefit to enabling families to be more connected or have safeguards.

I also managed to speak to Humberside Police's Cyber Unit about potentially collaborating with Freeside and other Hull university students in some way. They seemed open to the concept so I took the senior officers details and hopefully something will come of it.

All in all, I had a good time and saw some interesting projects. Back to building my own projects now!
